Last week, our class celebrated Constitution Day. We read a story called "We the Kids" and we specifically discussed the preamble. This is so hard to do with Kindergarteners! I think as adults we sometimes have a hard time understanding the whole Constitution! We made the terms kid friendly and the kids worked together to draw pictures that depicted the different parts of the preamble. Then we hung them up around our room for a few days. We also worked on our Essential Agreement. These are our class rules that all of the kids and I have agreed to and signed! Enjoy!

Writing, writing, and more writing! Oh my!
We began Writing Workshop this week. We are all at very different levels, but I am so proud of how it turned out this week. We have some who are just interested in illustrating at this point. We have some using a combination of drawing scribbles and letters, and we have some writing using sounds that they hear. We worked on the sight words of I, am, and a this week and many students chose to write using those words. I hope you can see these! We also have a picture of the balloons we saw in today at school as well!

Our First Week
Our first week is almost complete!
Your children are almost four days smarter! I have had so much fun with them this week. They are smart, great rule followers, and are so polite and kind. We are so lucky! Some funny sayings of the week:
*"Do you get angry a lot because your name is Mrs. Storm?"
*"Can I eat this? It fell on the floor but I promise it was still in the bag. Mom was smart to do that."
*"Mrs. Storm, I am not sure I drink cow's milk. What is the milk I drink? (we have a milk allergy this year and are learning about keeping this student safe:))
*"If I do this last thing you asked, can I please go play? Please. I am really bored with this school stuff and I didn't sleep enough last night."
"Can you turn on the air conditioning? It is getting really hot in here."
Never a dull moment in kindergarten! Enjoy your weekend!
